Highlights:
- Not every Type-C charger is genuine.
- Fake chargers are being sold indiscriminately in the open market.
- Identify genuine and fake chargers with the government’s BIS Care app.
How to find a fake mobile charger: Type-C charging has become quite common today. In such a situation, anyone can buy a charger from anywhere and charge their phone. Also, the phone can be charged using someone else’s charger. But doing this can be very dangerous for you because a fake charger can cause a phone to explode. Many incidents have occurred in which phones exploded while charging. In some cases, lives have been lost due to phone explosions. If you don’t want such an incident to happen to you, you should charge your phone with the original charger. For this, you can use the government’s BIS Care App.
What is the BIS Care App?
The BIS Care app is owned by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), which works under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution of the Government of India. BIS is the quality certification body for products sold in India.
Where to download:
Every mobile phone user can download the BIS Care app, which is available for both Android and iOS users.
How to identify a genuine or fake charger:
- First, download the BIS Care app for iOS or Android.
- Open the app and tap on “Verify R No.” under CRS.
- You will then see two options. You can identify the real and fake charger by scanning the product registration number or the product QR code.
- After this, you will be able to check the name of the charger, product category, country where the charger was made, the Indian standard number, and model.
How to search the registration number:
When you buy a new charger, both the product number and QR code are recorded on it. If this is not the case, it can be easily identified as a fake charger. Additionally, the registration number is also recorded on the purchase receipt of the charger. Now, the question arises as to how the charger registration number is written. It starts in the format: R-XXXXXXX.
