TRAI imposed a fine of Rs 110 crore on telecom companies.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has cracked down on the big telecom companies of India. Actually, phone users across the country are troubled by fake calls. TRAI has warned telecom companies several times to stop such calls, but the companies failed to do so. Telecom regulator has so far imposed a fine of Rs 110 crore on these companies. Let us tell you that fake calls coming from unknown numbers are a big problem in India.
TRAI has repeatedly asked telecom companies to take steps to stop unwanted calls. Some marketing firms contact through general phone numbers instead of telemarketing numbers. People think that this is an acquaintance’s call, but in reality these are fake telemarketing numbers. At present, Telecom Operators have failed to completely control such calls.
Rs 110 crore fine
Telecom companies have had to bear the brunt of their mistakes. A penalty of Rs 110 crore has been imposed on them so far. There are three big telecom companies in the country which include Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone-Idea (Vi).
Apart from this, government telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) also has a large number of users. At present, it is not clear how much fine has been imposed on which telecom company.
Action on unwanted calls
Taking strict action, TRAI has disconnected connections of more than 74,000 mobile phones. However, people are still troubled by unwanted calls. The average figure of unwanted calls daily is more than 20 lakhs. Meanwhile, the Telecom Regulatory Authority has limited the outgoing service of about 8 lakh telecomers.
Complain on TRAI app
TRAI has sent notices to more than 11 lakh telemarketers. At the same time, outgoing service on 2 lakh numbers has been limited to 6 months. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also being used to stop spam calls.
