FADA report: 10 percent less vehicles sold in 2019 despite the boom, retail sales increased by 15.28 in 2022

Retail sales of vehicles in the country increased by 15.28 percent to 2,11,20,441 units in 2022. In 2021, a total of 1,83,21,760 vehicles were sold in the retail market. The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) said on Thursday that in the calendar year 2022, the total retail sales of vehicles increased by 15 percent on an annual basis. Compared to 2020, it registered a growth of 17 percent.

However, sales were still 10 per cent lower than pre-Covid i.e. 2019. Retail sales of commercial vehicles to reach 8,65,344 units in 2022. This is 31.97 percent more than the 6,55,696 vehicles sold in 2021. Commercial vehicle sales have come to a close in 2019. Three-wheeler sales grew by 71.47 per cent to 6,40,559 units.

Passenger vehicles and tractor made record

Last year 34,31,497 passenger vehicles were sold. This figure is 16.35% more than the 29,49,182 passenger vehicles sold in 2021. FADA President Manish Raj Singhania said, this is the highest ever retail sale of passenger vehicles. Tractor sales increased to a record 7.94 lakh. In 2021, 7,69,638 tractors were sold. Sales were better than 2020 and 2019.

Inflation stopped the speed of two wheeler:

Two-wheeler sales to grow by 13.37% to 1,53,88,062 units in 2022. However, sales declined by 11.19% to 11,33,138 units in December. Sales have decreased due to increase in inflation and cost and demand for e-vehicles.

December: 5.4 percent decline in retail sales

Retail sales of total vehicles fell by 5.4% to 16,22,317 units in December, 2022. The figure stood at 17,14,942 units in the same period a year ago.

passenger vehicle : Sales grew by 8.15 percent to 2,80,016 units.

commercial vehicle : Sales increased by 10.67% to reach 66,945 units.
