The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is working on improving its system these days. So that the service of EPFO becomes easier for people. The EPFO hopes that it will complete the first phase of its technical reform by 31 March. The database will be centralized under this first phase of EPFO.
After this, it is expected to help in accelerating the speed of many service including claim process, settlement and complaint. A senior government official said that 31 March is the last date and we are hopeful that most of the new system will be implemented by then. He said that the change may take some more time, but we are hopeful that it will be fully completed and will be implemented as soon as possible.
UAN based laser facility
This new platform, popularly known as the Central IT INILD System or CITES 2.01, is expected to help improve the performance of EPFO. The purpose of this modernization effort is to streamline claim settlement and payment, which will replace the old field office application software to increase service distribution. The new IT system will provide UAN based laser facility for all member accounts.
More than 11.78 crore account
By 7 March this year, EPFO had more than 11.78 crore members, but for the last several years it has been struggling with challenges in providing time services to the members, including claim processes and disposal, accounts of accounts, access to e-passbooks or even a delay in simple improvement in member profiles. In fact, EPFO officials also wrote a letter to the EPFO in the past, exposing these challenges and demanded upgradation of the IT system and infrastructure of the retirement fund management.
Focus on modernization EPFO
In recent months, EPFO is focusing on better customer services and is also planning to modernize its platform after the completion of the current set of reforms under CITES 2.01.
