The video game industry puts a lot of emphasis on creating franchises, which sooner or later slide into a money-grabbing conveyor belt. Exhausted gamers decided to make a list of series that disappointed and forced them to choose other entertainment.
A player under the nickname Rid3R0fL1f3 asked on Reddit which franchises gamers have abandoned. The list grew very quickly, but, as expected, it included some of the most popular series. Most often, people wrote that they quit Call of Duty, Battlefield, Pokemon, Borderlands, Kingdom Hearts and Halo. Mention was given to Overwatch, Destiny, Hearthstone, EA FC and even Assassin’s Creed, which did not make it to the top. Some abandoned these games after the first parts, while others held out until modern releases.
The main reason why gamers abandoned the listed franchises was a decrease in quality and an increase in monetization. Many did not like the deterioration of the scenario in single-player campaigns, the cutting out of gameplay elements, self-repetition, as well as aggressive marketing and many donation options.
