Elon Musk Allowed to Use Whistleblower Claims in Case Against Twitter, Trail to Start in October

Elon Musk is allowed to use the allegations of whistleblower Peiter Zatko (aka Mudge) in the lawsuit against Twitter for withdrawing from the $44 billion takeover deal (ca. Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick of the Delaware Court of Chancery reportedly however, confirmed that the trial will begin in October and will not be postponed Musk’s legal team reportedly argued to postpone the five-day trial so they could investigate Zatko’s allegations.

According to Reuters, Musk can use Zatko’s allegations in his legal defense that allegedly indicate Twitter knowingly concealed security vulnerabilities and privacy issues.

Musk has claimed that the reason behind the withdrawal from the $44 billion deal (about Rs 3.5 billion) was that Twitter misrepresented data surrounding bot accounts on its platform.

However, Twitter apparently claims that Musk got cold feet due to rising inflation and global political instability after he signed the deal to acquire the social media platform for US$54.20 (around Rs. 4,500) per share .

Additionally, Twitter’s attorney read a message sent by Musk that seemed to indicate that Musk wasn’t concerned about bot accounts. It reportedly suggested that Musk wasn’t interested in taking over Twitter when the world was “heading toward World War III.”

Notably, the contract allows Musk to withdraw from the deal under certain conditions, but makes no explicit mention of war, the report said. If he loses that case, Musk would have to pay a $1 billion (around Rs. 8,000 crore) termination fee.
