Cheapest Electric SUV: Tata Motors has established itself in the Indian electric car market. At present, it is the number one electric car selling company in the country. The success of Tata Nexon EV, the company’s best-selling electric SUV in the country, has played an important role in achieving this milestone. Tata also sells its Tiago and Tigor in electric versions. However, the company’s focus is on further expanding its EV lineup. The cheapest electric car of the company is coming soon.
At the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata Motors introduced the EV version of its Harrier SUV, which is expected to be launched soon. The Harrier EV will be positioned above the Nexon EV in Tata’s portfolio. Tata Motors is reportedly looking to launch yet another electric SUV, which will be positioned below the Nexon. If reports are to be believed then the electric version of Tata Punch Micro SUV can be brought.
According to media reports, Tata Motors plans to launch the Punch Micro SUV by the end of 2023. The vehicle will be based on the Gen 2 (Sigma) platform, which is a modified version of the ALFA architecture used in the Tata Altroz. Punch EV is expected to be brought with two battery pack options. One battery pack could be 26kWh like the Tiago EV and the other could be a 30.2kWh battery pack like the Nexon EV.
There is no official information from Tata Motors regarding Punch EV. However, if launched, it is expected to be the cheapest electric SUV in India with an estimated price of Rs. 10 to 14 lakhs.
