Electric car sales: Tata Motors sold more than 7000 electric cars in March, demand doubled

There has been a rapid increase in the demand for electric vehicles in the country and as such there has been a rapid increase in the sales of two-wheelers as well as the passenger vehicle segment. Sales figures of electric passenger vehicles have come to the fore in March and Tata Motors has won in this.

Tata Motors has sold a total of 7,137 units of electric vehicles in March 2023, which is 107% higher than 3,444 units in March 2022. The demand for Tata’s electric cars has registered a twofold increase which is a great sign for the Indian market.

Tata Motors currently sells the Nexon EV, the Tigor EV and the Tiago EV and all three models are targeted at different customer segments. Currently Tata Nexon EV is the best selling electric car in the country.

After this, MG Motor has been in second place, which sells MG ZS EV in the market. In March, MG sold 494 units of the ZS EV, up 420% from last year’s 95 units.

This was followed by Chinese company BYD which sold 281 units of electric passenger vehicles in the month of March. The company had sold 18 units in March 2022. BYD is rapidly expanding its dealership network in India.

After this, Mahindra & Mahindra has been the company, 237 units of the company have been sold in the month of March, which was only 18 units last year. The company has recently brought the XUV400 Electric in the market due to which sales have improved.

After this, BMW has been in the luxury EV segment, which has 51 units in the month of March, which was only 9 units in March 2022. Let us tell you that a total of 8,566 units of electric passenger vehicles have been sold in March 2023, which is 130% more than last year.

These figures are going to increase rapidly in the coming times as Tata Motors is about to deliver 25,000 Xpress-T EVs to online taxi company Uber. Tata Motors also sells the Xpress-T EV, an electric version of the Tigor EV in India.
