EK, a liquid cooling company, and MSI, a gaming PC, components and peripherals for them, have unveiled a joint effort of a motherboard / water block kit called EK-Mana MSI MAG Z690 Torpedo EK X D -RGB.
The included board is based on the Z690 chipset and supports 12th Gen Intel Core processors. The specially designed EK-LiteBlock water block provides cooling for the processor and nearby powerful voltage regulators included in the 16-channel power supply subsystem. It is noteworthy that the water block is not in contact with the regulators, but with the radiators installed on them. This is said to have allowed for “optimizing production costs.” Heat transfer pads have been tried on to improve heat transfer.
The waterblock is EK-Matrix7 compliant, making it easy to integrate with second generation Reflection Distribution Plates, achieving perfect port alignment with less planning and tube bending time.
The base of the waterblock is made of copper and nickel plated, and the lid is made of transparent acrylic plastic. The waterblock is adorned with an addressable D-RGB LED strip that can be plugged into the 3-pin D-RGB header on the motherboard or controller.
The kit is already available for pre-order at a price of 399 euros. It is expected to go on sale at the end of February this year.
