Dubai Walk Project: A 6,500-Kilometer Pedestrian Network to Transform the City by 2040

Dubai has launched an ambitious project called Dubai Walk, aimed at reshaping the city with a massive network of pedestrian walkways. This initiative will connect the city’s most iconic landmarks, reduce car dependency, and improve the overall environment.

The new pedestrian routes in Dubai will cover about 6,500 kilometers, with 2,300 kilometers of existing pathways being upgraded. The project includes building 110 new bridges and underpasses, making it easier and more convenient for people to move around the city on foot.

One of the key goals of the Dubai Walk project is to increase pedestrian traffic in the city from 13% to 25% by 2040, as part of a global effort to develop sustainable transportation. The network will feature scenic promenades, coastal trails, rural and mountain paths, and walkways connecting major attractions like the Burj Khalifa and the Museum of the Future.

A highlight of the project is the Future Loop, an elevated pedestrian path near the Museum of the Future. This area will be equipped with air conditioning, ensuring that both residents and tourists can enjoy walking comfortably throughout the year, no matter the weather.
