CNG-PNG Price Hike: In Maharashtra, there has been a double attack of inflation on the people. Here the retail price of CNG was increased by Rs 5 per kg and that of PNG by Rs 4.50 per cubic meter on Tuesday night. Due to this increase, there has been a double blow of increased expenditure on the people.
This given reason behind the increase in fuel price
Announcing the increase in the prices of CNG and PNG, Maharashtra Gas Limited said that due to the increase in the cost, the price of fuels has to be increased. The increased rates have come into effect from Tuesday midnight. This is the second increase in their prices in the last one week. Earlier on April 6, the price of CNG was increased by Rs 7 per kg and that of PNG by Rs 5 per cubic meter.
In a week, CNG became costlier by Rs 12 and PNG by Rs 9.5
In this way, within a week, the price of CNG in Maharashtra has increased by Rs 12 per kg and that of PNG by Rs 9.5 per cubic meter. CNG in Mumbai is now Rs 72 per kg and PNG used in kitchens is Rs 45.50 per cubic meter.
Although the prices were reduced on 31 March
Maharashtra Gas Limited, the major gas supply company in Maharashtra, however, had cut the price of CNG by Rs 6 per kg and PNG by Rs 3.50 per cubic meter on March 31. The main reason for this was that the state government had cut VAT on the prices of these fuels by 3 percent, which came into effect from April 1.
