Difficulties with the inclusion of gears and steering play, but almost complete independence from imports. The first test of a non-standard domestic truck BAZ-S36A11

Recently presented and even a little unexpectedly, the domestic truck BAZ-S36A11 turned out to be a very unusual model in appearance. Now the resource “Fontanka.ru” has published the first test drive, which indicates a number of interesting points.

So far, the BAZ-S36A11 is represented by one running prototype, so there are flaws. For example, the driver’s seat adjustment panel turned out to be for some reason under the seat itself on the left, so in order to use it, I had to open the door. Transfers are included normally far not all. There is also steering play, but here, according to Ivan Petryashin, chief engineer of the engineering center of the Obukhov plant, it’s all about hydraulic boosters.

Synchronizing hydraulic boosters is a separate task. The system was taken from military vehicles, where it was perfected 50 years ago. But now the changes are gigantic, you need to go and pick up. We are creating brand new‘ said the engineer.

The first prototype is made to test layout solutions. Now we have checked them, found flaws in each node. Now we are working with suppliers to make them for us. On the boxes, the handout is now the final work”, — added Ivan Petryashin.

Another oddity – there was no platform for the left foot in the car. “Work is underway on this. Specifically, on this machine, we were forced to abandon this site, because the engine is very high. Now we will introduce all the improvements in order to lower the engine lower, move the driver and passenger closer to the center due to the displacement of the steering column”, Ivan Petryashin commented on this moment.

In general, there is still work to be done in the BAZ-S36A11. The developers themselves point to three features of the tractor.

The first is high carrying capacity: with a dead weight of 13 tons, the BAZ-S36A11 is capable of carrying 36 tons of cargo in total.

The second is almost complete independence from imports: 95% of components are from domestic manufacturers. So, for example, the truck is equipped with a Russian independent spring suspension of all axles, the engine is a two-row “six” with a volume of 11 liters and a power of 422 hp. Yaroslavl Motor Plant, a nine-speed gearbox and a pneumatic clutch with hydraulic booster – also from YaMZ, a transfer case – from the ZMT mechanical transmission plant.

There are practically no foreign components here. You can arrange a quest: “Find a part of foreign production.” And you won’t find it. We even make electronics ourselves“, – said Oleg Klyavin, director of the engineering center of the Obukhov plant.

Finally, the third feature is a frame and cab built from scratch with a steel frame and composite outer panels. Moreover, the cabin has three modifications.
