According to the IMF World Outlook, India’s growth rate is estimated to be 8.2 percent in this financial year and 6.9 percent next year. According to the estimates for this financial year, India is one of the fastest growing major economies, but since January there has been a slowdown in the growth rate (0.8 percentage points).

Finance Minister met Kristalina Georgieva
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has met with International Monetary Fund’s Managing Director i.e. MD Kristalina Georgieva during her US visit. This meeting coincided with the spring meeting of the IMF-World Bank. Senior officials of the Government of India such as Ananth V Nageswaran, Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India and Gita Gopinath of the IMF also participated in this meeting.
