Deloitte South Asia CEO said that given the transformational impact of AI, more new jobs will be created than in the past. He also said that human intervention will still be important to take full advantage of emerging technologies.
New Delhi Romal Shetty, CEO of Deloitte South Asia, a company famous for audit consultancy, has described AI as an important technology for the coming times. He has said about this technology that this emerging technology can create new employment opportunities in the economy. However, he has also discussed the losses caused by it and said that it can also affect the sectors related to goods and services.
In fact, given the transformative impact of AI, more new jobs will be created than in the past, Shetty said. He also said human intervention will still be important to take full advantage of emerging technologies. Talking to editors at PTI headquarters, he said AI may impact repetitive tasks and repetitive jobs. But it is certain that artificial intelligence will create more opportunities for companies and workers.
New jobs will be created
He said, “Wherever things are repeated and used, jobs may be lost. But it is also true that this will create new jobs and roles.” Shetty said that he sees AI as a big opportunity rather than a complete challenge. Giving an example, he said that the way the use of drones is increasing in various works, air traffic control system may be needed in the future. This will definitely create new jobs.
new rules are important
Shetty said, “Similarly, with the advent of electric vehicles, tyre noise is important. So they are looking at the chemical composition of tyres. Gen-AI is being used for this. The research that could be done in 18 months can now be done in nine months. Similarly, there are other areas where such things can happen.” On the new rules coming in emerging technologies, data and digital sector, he said that rules are important but it should be such that innovation is not hindered.
