Data of 7.5 million Tele2 subscribers leaked to the network

It became known that as a result, personal data of subscribers of the mobile operator Tele2 got into the public domain. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Information Leaks”. The source, who previously published data from the Russian Post, the GeekBrains educational portal, the Delivery Club delivery service, the ticketing service, and others, has now made a database of, presumably, participants in the Tele2 loyalty program, freely available, notes Telegram- channel. The file contains more than 7.5 million records that contain information such as the name, phone number, email address and gender of the caller.

The press service of the Tele2 operator said that an internal investigation is already underway into the leak. The company claims that the responsibility lies with the IT partner who was hacked. The systems of the operator itself are reliably protected, and leakage on the Tele2 side is completely excluded, the press service notes. The operator promised to tighten control over data from less secure contractors. According to Tele2, the information that has become publicly available does not carry material risks for subscribers, most of it is available on the network from other sources.
