Cyber Attack: The cases of cyber attack are increasing rapidly in India. According to a recent report by Check Point Research, in the first quarter of 2023, organizations faced an average of 2108 weekly attacks. This is 18 percent more than a year ago. Globally too, such cases have increased rapidly. Globally, every organization has faced an average of 1248 attacks every week. This is 7 percent more than the same quarter of 2022. The report said that cyber criminals are misusing a legitimate medium like ‘ChatGPT’ to generate ‘code’.
Education and Research Center most targeted
Cyber attackers have targeted the Education and Research Center the most. The retail and wholesale sector recorded the highest growth of 49 per cent in cyber attacks on an annual basis. These sectors have faced 1079 cyber attacks on a weekly basis.
One in 31 institutes face ransomware attack
According to this report, an organization in Globally 31 faced ransomware attack at least once a week. The main target of ransomware attack is the government and military sector. After that the maximum number of attacks were done on the banking and finance sector. There has been a jump of 32 percent in it on an annual basis.
Cyber attacks increase in the Asia Pacific region
Cyber attack cases have increased rapidly in APAC i.e. Asia Pacific region. A 16 percent jump was registered in the cyber attack on the organization on an annual basis. Each institute faced an average of 1835 attacks on a weekly basis. After that, a jump of 9 percent was registered in the North America region. On a weekly basis, the organization faced an average of 950 attacks.
