As the experts of the agency “Autostat” found out, this year the share of sales of new crossovers and off-road vehicles (SUVs) in Russia exceeded 50% for the first time.
According to the published statistics, the share of cars of this class in 2015 was 37%. Since then, it has increased annually and in 2021 it was 51%. Analysts predict that the share of crossovers and SUVs in Russia will continue to increase.
By the end of calendar year 2021, a record number of crossovers and SUVs will be sold in Russia. For 11 months of this year, about 719 thousand cars were sold (about 65 thousand cars per month). The previous record of 750 thousand cars was recorded in 2019.
The overwhelming majority of brands that sell their cars in Russia have a share of crossovers and SUVs exceeding 50%, and for very many it reaches 100%. These companies include Cadillac, Chery, Exeed, Chervrolet, Chrysler, Haval, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki and others.

Less than 20% of SUVs in Russia are sold only by Lada AvtoVAZ. Kia, Citroen, Skoda and Volkswagen have a share ranging from 20 to 49%.
