Competing with Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza and Hyundai’s Venue, the Sonet is a sub-four-meter SUV.
The South Korean automobile company Kia has surpassed the sales milestone of four lakh units for its Sonet model in India, achieving this feat in less than four years since its launch. This figure includes both domestic sales and exports. Within the country, 3,17,754 units have been sold, while 85,814 units have been exported. The company introduced an updated version of the Sonet earlier this year.
Among customers who purchased the Sonet, 63 percent opted for its sunroof variants. Additionally, 63 percent chose the petrol engine model, while approximately 37 percent opted for the 1.5-liter diesel engine model. About 28 percent of buyers selected the automatic transmission variants. The compact SUV segment is experiencing rapid growth in the country. Myung-sik Sohn, chief sales officer of Kia’s unit in the country, remarked, “There is significant opportunity in the compact SUV segment, with many first-time car buyers entering this category.”
Competing with Maruti Suzuki’s Brezza and Hyundai’s Venue, the Sonet is a sub-four-meter SUV. However, Kia’s best-selling model in the country remains the Seltos. The updated Sonet features slight changes in the design of the DRL, headlights, and front bumper. It is available in eight single-tone and two dual-tone colors. Monotone options include Olive, White, Silver, Grey, Red, Blue, Clear White, and Black, while dual-tone options include a black roof with red and a black roof with white.
Equipped with a 10.25-inch main touchscreen display and a 10.25-inch LCD driver display, the Sonet offers features such as a 360-degree camera, smart air purification system, seven-speaker Bose sound system, and electric sunroof. Strong demand for the Seltos SUV has led Kia’s unit in the country to decide to increase its production capacity and reduce exports. Last month, Kia raised the prices of the Seltos, Sonet, and Carens by 3 percent due to rising manufacturing costs.
