Clock of trouble for mobile games, this year’s earnings have decreased

Racing, Shooter and Simulation games have seen the biggest decline in earnings. Racing games saw a 38 percent drop in earnings, Shooter games 35.9 percent, and Simulation games down 20.3 percent.

Mobile games like Raid: Shadow Legends, Diablo Immortal and Genshin Impact continue to set high earnings records. But this does not apply to all games. According to a report by Sensor Tower, downloads and earnings of mobile games in the United States declined during the first half of this year (H1 2022). 

According to the news, during this period, player spending in mobile games has fallen by 9.6 percent compared to last year to $ 11.4 billion. The firm has analyzed the earnings of games in different categories, according to which, apart from Arcade and Tabletop games, every category has seen a decline. 

Which games have increased earnings in H1 2022?

According to the news of Sensor Tower, Arcade Games has achieved the most in H1 2022 . Player spending in this mobile game category grew 14.8 percent to $176 million. The most successful game under this is Clawee, which earned $16.5 million during H1 2022 in the United States. After this, games like Gold & Goblins and Idle Mafia are included in the list. 

In addition to Arcade games, Tabletop games have also gained, but this is just 0.9 percent higher than last year. The category earned $388 million in the first half of the year. Apart from this, there has been a decrease in the earnings of all the game categories.

These games earned less in H1 2022

Action games were down 16.1 percent in H1 2022 , lifestyle games were down 14.4 percent, sports games were down 12.8 percent, and Geolocation AR games were down 12.3 percent.

Strategy games have lost 11.8 percent in earnings. Casino games have a 11.4 percent drop in earnings and a 10 percent drop in Puzzle games. RPG games’ earnings fell by 8.9 percent.
