Citroen will launch its first electric car in India, will give competition to domestic companies

The report claims that the Citron C3 Electric could be launched in India in the first half of 2023. It will be offered as an affordable electric SUV in the country. According to the information, the Citroen C3 Electric will be launched in India to compete with the upcoming Tata Tiago EV. Due to the low price, it can also compete with the Tata Nexon EV.

Currently, the Citron C3 SUV is being sold in 1.2L 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated and turbo petrol engines. Both these powertrains are available with manual gearbox options. The hatchback gets SUV-inspired design cues and stance, a combination that has gained a lot of popularity in recent times. Citroen is looking to capture the electric vehicle market with its first electric SUV for India.

Will get a range of 250 km

Reports also claim that the Citron C3 Electric can offer a drive range of 200-250 kms on a full charge. The company is going to use a high capacity lithium-ion battery in it, which will be equipped with the facility of fast charging. The front axle of the C3 Electric will be powered by an electric motor that will power both the front wheels.

Like the petrol-powered version of the C3, the electric variant is also expected to be a cost-effective model. Talking about the features, it can be given features like four power windows, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls and electronic rearview mirror. It could get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with daytime running lights, a digital speedometer, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, similar to the petrol version of the C3.

Apart from the electric version of the C3, Citroen is also planning to strengthen its product lineup in India with a mid-sized SUV. This new SUV will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Tigon, Skoda Kushak, Nissan Kicks, MG Aster and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Citroen recently launched the facelift version of the C5 Aircross in India. The new Citroen C5 Aircross has been introduced at an ex-showroom price of Rs 36.67 lakh. The SUV is now offered with a plug-in-hybrid engine that can be driven up to 55 kms with only battery power.

The company has given PureTech 1.6-litre turbo engine in it, which provides power of 180 bhp. Whereas in hybrid mode, this SUV can give maximum power of 225 bhp. The SUV also gets a new driving mode selector from which one can choose between Hybrid, Electric and Sport.
