Yandex Browser has long been able to translate videos from foreign languages. The company recently updated the statistics for this feature over the past year. Notably, there was a significant change in the list of the most popular translation directions.
The statistics cover the audience of Russian users. English remains the leader in the number of translations, but while Spanish held second place in January 2024, by early 2025, Chinese had taken its place. Now, 27.6% of non-English videos are translated from Chinese, an increase of 7.2 percentage points. The total share of East Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) is now 48.6%, an increase of 5.6%.
Yandex Browser for smartphones and PCs synchronously translates videos using neurovoice. It recognizes the speaker’s gender and adjusts the voiceover accordingly, switching between voices if multiple people are speaking in the video. The browser can translate videos not only on YouTube but also on other platforms, such as Bilibili, Coursera, Rutube, and Zen.
