ChatGPT has learned to talk to users

The popular chatbot has received a new useful feature – it has learned to work in voice assistant mode, and now it can not only listen to requests, but also answer them with one of five synthesized voices. The new feature is already available both in mobile clients and in the web version of the service.

The innovation is called Read Aloud, or “Read Aloud.” With this function, the chatbot not only displays a text response on the screen, but also speaks it out loud. According to the developers, this mode will simplify user interaction with the neural network in situations where it is inconvenient to constantly look at the screen – for example, when using a smartphone on the go.

There are five voiceover options to choose from in one of 37 languages. The chatbot independently selects the language of communication, focusing on the previously entered text. The function of speaking answers can be switched to automatic mode, or launched manually after each request. Read Aloud is available to GPT-4 and GPT 3.5 subscribers.
