Seat Tire for Electric Cars: India’s tire manufacturer Ceat Limited has launched its new range of EnergyDrive tires specially designed for four wheelers. Generally, EVs operate as high torque silent vehicles, making tire noise more pronounced. The new EnergyDrive tires feature CALM (CEAT Acoustic Lowering Material) technology. CEAT is using this patented sound absorbing material that reduces noise by filtration and absorption of vibrations.
Ceat has incorporated EneryDrive tires with a new cavity design called the EasyFlex. The new design helps reduce the rolling resistance of the tires assisting the EV with better driving range. The DuraBlock technology used in the new EnergyDrive provides the new range of these tires with better block stiffness and lower thread flexing. The improved rigidity reduces the deformation of the tires when turning on the road, enabling the tires to last longer in EVs that have higher torque than in conventional vehicles.
Commenting on the launch, Arnab Banerjee, COO, CEAT, said, “This is the first time that a tire like the EnergyDrive has been launched in India aimed at a four wheeler EV. EVs are generally very silent vehicles with high torque, which makes tire noise more pronounced. Our EnergyDrive range of tires with CALM technology tackles this problem for EV owners in the country. We expect it to emerge as the preferred tire for EV owners.
