CD Projekt RED Announces The Witcher Sequel

Everything that has a beginning has an end. A beautiful phrase – but in the entertainment industry, of course, not everyone likes to put an end to it. For example, a couple of years ago, CD Projekt RED announced that The Witcher series had come to an end – and, as it turned out, was a little cunning.

Last evening, the Polish studio  announced a new part of the fantasy series based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. Along with beautiful art, the authors revealed a couple of details of the project. Firstly, the game will be the beginning of a “new saga”. Secondly, this time the company decided to abandon the REDengine engine in favor of Unreal Engine 5.

The latter marks a long and apparently fruitful collaboration with Epic Games. Does this mean that the fourth Witcher will bypass Steam and become an EGS exclusive, alas, is not specified.

Unfortunately (or fortunately), Projekt RED drew a line on this CD: the studio did not even announce an approximate release date and the like. Instead, she recalled the existence of Cyberpunk 2077 and emphasized that the add-ons promised many years ago have not gone away – they are in the works.
