Experts from the analytical company Canalys summed up the results of the fourth quarter of 2021 and the year as a whole in the ready-made PC market. According to their calculations, PC shipments in the fourth quarter exceeded 90 million units for the second year in a row. More specifically, 92 million desktops, laptops and workstations were shipped in the fourth quarter of 2021. This value corresponds to an annualized growth of 1%.
In total, 341 million PCs were produced in a year. This is the highest rate since 2012. It is 15% more than the value recorded in 2020 and 27% more than the result from the 2019 report.
In monetary terms, fourth-quarter sales reached $ 70 billion, and more than $ 250 billion of personal computers were sold in 2021. For comparison: in 2020, personal computers were sold for more than $ 220 billion, that is, an increase of 15%.
The market leader at the end of the year is Lenovo. The Chinese manufacturer holds 24.1% of the market. In 2020, he owned 24.4% of the market.
The share of HP, which is in second place, declined over the year from 22.7% to 21.7%.
Dell ranks third. Its share increased over the year from 16.9% to 17.4%.
Next comes Apple. It was able to increase its share over the year from 7.6% to 8.5%.
Acer closes the top five. Its share is 7.1%. Acer’s share was 6.7% a year ago.
