Buyers of the best electric scooter get a more expensive version: this is how the manufacturer apologizes for the problems of the Ola S1 and S1 Pro

There was a continuation of the shady story with the Ola S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters, buyers who started reporting problems in large numbers… The manufacturer said that buyers of the standard Ola S1 model can get the older Ola S1 Pro module in return, but not everything is so simple.

Those who receive the Ola S1 Pro in exchange for the purchased standard S1 Pro model will not be able to take advantage of this model, such as increased walking range and increased speed. They will be locked at the software level.

It costs $ 400 to unlock them, but the company rightly notes that “customers get access to best-in-class hardware at the same price as the Ola S1. In the future, if you want to unlock the amazing software features, range and full potential of the Ola S1 Pro, you can do so by paying INR 30,000 (about $ 400). ”

On the outside, both Ola S1 models look the same, but the Pro variant offers a larger 3.97 kWh battery compared to the 2.98 kWh battery in the base variant. Other features include “hyper mode”, which is not available in the standard model. The Ola S1 costs about $ 1,350, while the older model is priced at $ 1,750. The Ola S1 has a range of up to 121 km, while the S1 Pro has 181 km.

Ola previously said that there were more pre-orders for the older model than for the base model.
