Fuel price talks in India have gone up a lot in a few months, so customers are moving towards CNG cars. In such a situation, car companies are also preparing to equip their models with CNG kit. At present, only Maruti and Hyundai are selling factory fitted CNG cars in the market. Tata is also preparing to launch Tiago with CNG.
Maruti’s big bet on CNG
Cars like Maruti’s Vitara Brezza, Maruti Swift, XL6, Baleno and S-Cross will now soon be available with CNG. In the year 2020-21 fiscal year, the company has managed to sell 1.9 lakh CNG cars.
85% market capture
Maruti Suzuki already holds 85 per cent of the CNG powered market and now the company wants to strengthen its CNG foothold. Out of 1.9 lakh CNG vehicles, 1.62 lakh are from Maruti Suzuki.
Celerio also CNG
The company has recently unveiled its Celerio hatchback. The company can also present this car with CNG in the next few months. The new Celerio is set to get a direct competition from Tata Motors’ popular car Tata Tiago and while the starting ex-showroom price of the new Celerio is Rs 4.99 lakh, the starting ex-showroom price of Tata Tiago is also Rs 4.99 lakh. It is going to be very interesting to see the collision of these two cars in the market. The engine of 2021 Maruti Suzuki Celerio generates maximum power of 66.6 PS at 5500 rpm and peak torque of 89 Nm at 3300 rpm. Maruti Suzuki’s new Celerio comes in four variants in the Indian market. These include the LXi, VXi, ZXi+ and ZXi+.
