Britain will prohibit setting easy-to-guess passwords by default

The new law will require manufacturers, importers and distributors of internet-connected gadgets to ensure that they comply with stringent new cybersecurity standards. Those who fail to comply will face heavy fines.

The law will prohibit setting universal passwords in devices by default. The user will no longer have to fear that he has an easily guessed password on his gadget like password and admin. These passwords often make it very easy for hackers to attack devices. Research has shown that four out of five manufacturers of plug-in devices do not implement adequate security measures.
