Brazil decides to block Telegram

According to RBC, the request to block the messenger was sent by the federal police. The court ruled on it and has already sent the ruling to digital platforms and Internet providers. If they fail to comply with the blocking requirement, they face fines of up to 100,000 reais per day.

It is reported that Telegram in Brazil decided to block after the messenger ignored the requirement to block profiles that spread false information. In particular, we are talking about blogger Allan dos Santos, an ally of President Jair Bolsonaro.

The police clarified that Telegram refuses to cooperate with the authorities and therefore “becomes a platform for the distribution of content with consequences in the criminal sphere.”
