Electric Vehicles (EV) sales have grown rapidly in the country in the last few years. Automobile companies are also launching new models in this segment. Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 EV will soon hit the country’s roads. The company has started taking bookings for this. For this, customers will have to visit the company’s website and make an advance payment of Rs 1 lakh.
This EV has been made available in three colors – Gravity Gold Matt, Optic White and Midnight Black Pearl. Hyundai Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV, said, “With a paradigm shift in the automotive sector in India, we are introducing the world class Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV. It incorporates intelligence technology and innovation.” The Ioniq 5 EV comes with ultra-fast charging and can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. It has a multi-charging system with 400V and 800V to reduce waiting at charging stations.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features a 12.3-inch touchscreen main display and a 12.3-inch driver’s display with wireless phone charging. This EV will compete with Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40. The powertrain of this electric car can generate power of 301bhp. Its top speed is 185 kmph. It has two electric motor layouts, one with only rear motor and the other with rear and front motor option. The rear motor variant of the SUV is also equipped with an electric all wheel drive system.
