BMW’s global social media accounts have been hacked
As of now no one has claimed responsibility
memes are being posted from these accounts
New Delhi. The global social media accounts of German automaker BMW were hacked. The company’s Instagram and Twitter accounts were targeted. These handles are @BMW on Twitter and @BMW on Instagram as well. At present, no group or person has come forward and claimed responsibility for this hack.
Both the hacked handles are verified profiles and the hacking person/group is actively posting memes and tweets from the official handles. Also, the name of BMW’s Twitter handle has also been changed to DEE. This is a big out. Because, BMW is a premium car manufacturer and a global brand.
Let us tell you that this is not the first time that the social media handle of an auto company has been targeted and hacked. In the same month, the social media handles of Kia India were also hacked by hackers. Hackers targeted the company’s Instagram handle. However, Kia later regained access to the handle.
Different reactions are being given on social media regarding this hack. Some people are also calling it a marketing stunt. Some people are also cheering for the hackers. Some people are thinking about why the attack has been done. Some people believe that a climate change activist may be behind this attack.
Keep these things in mind to avoid account hacking:
Always keep strong password.
Keep two-factor authentication on.
Make sure you e-mail account is secure.
Avoid giving access to third party apps.
