Bengaluru: Luxury carmaker BMW has launched its third generation X1 SUV at the ongoing BMW Joytown Festival in Bengaluru. Like the previous version, it has been given the option of both petrol and diesel engines. The ex-showroom price of the petrol version of this car is Rs 45.90 lakh and the diesel version is priced at Rs 47.90 lakh. Customers can book this car at the company’s dealership with a token amount of Rs 50,000. The delivery of this car will start from March 2023. Let’s know about it…
Front and rear bumper sportier design
The new BMW X1 measures 53 mm in length, 24 mm in width, 44 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 22 mm. Some changes have been made to the design of the new X1 from the previous model. It gets a slightly bigger iron grille with a brushed silver insert on the bumper, more dynamic angular creases. It gets new inverted L-shaped daytime running lamps with smoother headlamps.

Slim wraparound LED tail-lamp
The sleek exterior profile gives this SUV sleek surfaces and flush door handles. It has 18-inch alloy wheels, slim wraparound LED tail-lamps at the rear. While the front and rear bumpers of the M Sport variant have been given a sportier design.

New Curved Infotainment Display
Talking about the interior of the new X1, it gets a bigger and new curved infotainment display. Which is also in other cars like the new X7, 7 Series and 3 Series Gran Limousine. Along with this, there is a floating center console with few physical buttons and new storage space on the dashboard. The car also offers a lot of space in the rear seats and a huge boot space of 476 liters is also available. The new BMW X1 comes with 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol (sDrive 18i) and 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel (sDrive 18d) engine options. Which are capable of generating power of 136hp – 230 Nm and 150hp – 360 Nm respectively.

front wheel drive only
Both the engines are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, which is a front wheel drive only system. BMW claims that the petrol variant can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 9.2 seconds and the diesel variant in 8.9 seconds. Mileage can be found on 16.3kmpl on petrol and 20.37kmpl on diesel. Talking about the features of the new generation X1, it will have a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.70-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, ADAS, Auto LED. Features like headlights, automatic tailgate operation and parking assist are available.

Mercedes-Benz GLA to compete with the new Audi Q3
The M Sport variant also gets massage function on the front seats. The new BMW X1 will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLA and the new Audi Q3 in the Indian market. The Audi Q3 gets a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which outputs 190PS/320 Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT and comes with Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive. Its initial ex-showroom price is Rs 44.89 lakh.
