BMW has unveiled a luxury electric boat called The Icon, with the German car brand saying the boat is ready for production.
Boat manufacturer Tyde acted as a partner, the presentation took place at the Cannes Film Festival this year.
With two 136 hp electric motors powered by six BMW i3 batteries, the Icon can travel over 90 km.
The highlight of the BMW The Icon boat is the use of hydrofoils to allow the hull to rise above the surface of the water and move at speeds up to 55 km/h. This feature saves battery life.
The shape of the ship’s hull provides a 4.5 meter wide space at the rear, creating a spacious cabin similar to a living room. Inside there are soft sofas and armchairs, tables and a 32-inch 6K touch-screen TV.
BMW The Icon has a length of about 13 m, a large number of windows around the perimeter and on top, and a sound system with Dolby Atmos support.
