Since then BMW has rolled out a significant portion of its Indian line-up from a facility consisting of models from BMW and sister firm MINI. The carmaker launched its 100,000th locally assembled model BMW 7 Series 740Li from the plant earlier this month.
Commenting on the anniversary, Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “Many congratulations to the team at BMW Group Plant Chennai on this joyous occasion. In meeting the demand for the latest, most ambitious BMW and MINI products. The plant plays the most important role.”
He further added that “we are also proud of the pioneering role that BMW Group Plant Chennai has taken in sustainable manufacturing practices in the auto industry.” Thomas Dose, Managing Director, BMW Group Plant Chennai has also informed about this achievement.
He added that “BMW Group Plant Chennai has emerged as a center of manufacturing excellence over the last 15 years. It is a world class facility that locally produces ‘Made In India’ BMW and MINI with the toughest quality standards. Is.”

The company is looking forward to setting more milestones in the country, he added. BMW India currently assembles 13 models locally at its Chennai plant. These models include the 2 Series Gran Coupe, 3 Series and 3 Series Gran Limousine.
Apart from this, these models also include BMW M340i, 5 Series, 6 Series Gran Turismo, 7 Series, X1, X3, X4, X5 and X7 SUV. On the other hand, the Mini Countryman of MINI India is also assembled locally at the plant.
