The Leica Camera Group announced that it ended its fiscal year 2021/2022 (April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022) with record results. Compared to the previous year, turnover increased by more than 16% to 450 million euros, the best result in more than 100 years.
According to Matthias Harsch, CEO of Leica Camera AG, the return on sales has also increased significantly. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the supply chain and retail sector over the past year, Leica has been able to accelerate international revenue growth.
An important driver of this growth has been the expansion of the global sales and retail network, as well as the online division, officials said. Leica currently operates nearly 100 mono-brand boutiques worldwide. Matthias Harsch said: “We believe that our products meet the growing consumer demand for high quality sustainable brands and that our new product category will stimulate enthusiasm for the world of Leica photography among our young target group.”
With the recent announcement of a strategic partnership with Xiaomi in camera development, Leica is solidifying its presence in emerging technologies such as image processing, image quality tuning and computational image processing. The goal of the technical collaboration between Leica and Xiaomi is to set new standards for the quality and performance of smartphone photography.
The first Xiaomi flagship with a Leica camera was the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which is in great demand all over the world.
