Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Petr Parkhomchik told the Belarus 1 TV channel that the country intends to organize the production of its own passenger car, and it will be a hybrid or an electric car.
At the moment, a working group of specialists from the public sector and private companies has been created. Assistance in the project will be provided by Russian car factories, and proposals for cooperation have also been received from Iranian companies.
There are companies in Iran that produce airbags, anti-lock systems, drive shafts and other components that may be of interest to Belarusian enterprises. Petr Parkhomchik promised to share detailed information later.
Iran intends to enter the market of the Customs Union, which includes both Belarus and Russia. Several automobile companies from Iran took part in the recent exhibition in Moscow. In particular, the Iranian automaker Iran Khodro announced its intention to supply cars to Russia, which could happen before the end of 2022.
