Chinese automaker Beijing Auto Works (BAW) has launched its Yuanbao electric mini car with a range of up to 170km in China. Yuanbao is a 3 door electric mini which is Hongguang Mini EV. There are 4 models of Yuanbao available depending on the range up to 120 km and 170 km. The price of Yuanbao ranges from Rs 33,900 i.e. 4,00,186 to 49,900 i.e. around Rs 5,88,847.
Yuanbao has been launched to coincide with the 71st anniversary of BAW and the Mini has been launched targeting women. It has 4 seats, 3 doors and female centric design. BAW has developed as a separate entity from its parent company BAIC. All its products now have the BAW moniker as part of their name. The BAW Yuanbao sports a square body shape, sound rectangular headlights and a closed grille front design. The BAW Yuanbao sports a 155/65 R13 tire design with steel rims and wheel covers.
BAW Yuanbao is based on Chinese culture. Yuanbao came to China as the currency of gold and silver in use during the imperial era. It is a symbol of wealth and wishes for good luck to the users of BAW Yuanbao. BAW has not yet announced the release date of Yuanbao. A 4-door version of the Yuanbao is reportedly also being produced. The BAW Yuanbao is powered by a 200kW rear-wheel-drive motor. Talking about the top speed, it can run at a top speed of 100 kmph. Two battery pack options have been given for Yuanbao which are 9.6kWh and 13.6kWh.
The Yuanbao features a surround camera system that provides a 360-degree view at any point in time. The car gets radar at the front and rear, an electronic braking system and an assist function for difficult angular areas. There are disc brakes at the front while drum brakes are used at the rear.
