Baojun, a joint venture between American automaker General Motors and Chinese automaker SAIC Motor, has introduced an all-electric micro SUV in China. This three-door SUV has been given a squarish design with off-roading styling. It has an all-electric power train, making it ideal for city driving and occasional recreational activities.

The SUV features a muscular front bumper with tow hooks on either side and a rectangular front grille with neatly integrated headlights. The SUV resembles the new Ford Bronco in terms of design elements, which gives it a masculine as well as modern look.

The Baojun micro SUV is based on the Baojun Kiwi City EV Vase platform that it will share with MG for its upcoming electric SUV. Which will be showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo and will be launched in India later.

Coming to the Baojun SUV, the electric power train uses two motors, one each on both the axles. They are expected to generate more than 100 bhp power. Also, since the vehicle uses a motor on each axle, it will be an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

The Baojun SUV is still in its concept form and it is expected to start production next year. Baojun will initially start sales in China, then go on sale in select markets globally.

The new Baojun SUV is unlikely to launch in India as the carmaker’s subsidiary MG is already present in India. Also, since MG is looking at launching an affordable EV for the Indian market, it is unlikely that this Bronco-inspired electric SUV will make it to India.
