Russian automotive giant AvtoVAZ summed up the results of 2021 and shared some forecasts for 2022.
According to the manufacturer’s statistics, 350,714 Lada cars were sold in Russia in 2021, which is 2.1% more than in 2020. According to the company, the Lada brand has retained its strong leadership in the Russian market with a market share of about 21%. At the same time, the Vesta and Granta models took 1st and 2nd places in the rating of sales of the Russian automotive market.
Vesta cars also became the leader of the AvtoVAZ model range, increasing sales by 6% compared to the previous year. In 2021, 113,698 Vesta vehicles were handed over to Russian customers, with 2,919 of them being the Vesta CNG version.
This is the only serial compressed gas car produced in Russia. Vesta CNG sales increased by a record 1.65 times. In addition, by the end of 2022, AvtoVAZ is going to consider launching a new Largus CNG.
Granta cars were sold 111,430 units, and Largus station wagons – 39,541. The fourth and fifth places are occupied by Lada Niva Legend (25,827 units) and the new Lada Niva Travel, which entered the market in February 2021 (25,415 units). Sales of Lada Xray in 2021 grew by 14.6% and amounted to 22,107 units.
As for the shortage of electronics, which had a strong impact on the automotive market, according to AvtoVAZ, it began to gradually improve at the end of 2021, but the deficit will remain at least until mid-2022.
