On the territory of the Park complex of the history of technology named after K. G. Sakharov in Togliatti, where a collection of unique prototypes of AvtoVAZ was stored, unknown people entered and seriously damaged many cars.
Door handles were torn off the cars, headlights were removed, windows were smashed and interior details were stolen. At the same time, spare parts from prototypes do not fit any production car, so they cannot be installed on another car. That is, the main version now is ordinary vandalism.
In particular, the VAZ-2170 sedan, the predecessor of the popular domestic model Lada Priora, was damaged. The prototypes VAZ-2116, VAZ-1119, ElAZ-1121 and the Oka-2 hatchback, which never went into production, were also badly damaged.
The territory of the park complex is closed and must be guarded by the security service – you can get inside only with a pass. The cars were not damaged in one day, that is, the vandals entered the complex unnoticed.
AvtoVAZ is currently working on new models. According to the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, in 2024-2025, the public will be presented with two new models, one of which will be a compact crossover based on the Lada Vesta. The company is also going to release a separate B-class family.
