Attention iPhone users! Phone may be attacked by spyware like Pegasus, Apple warns

Apple’s New Alert: Users from 92 countries, including India, have been warned about the use of spyware like Pegasus targeting selected individuals.

Many opposition leaders have reported receiving messages related to hacking alerts from Apple. This time, the company itself has issued a warning to its users regarding spyware attacks. Users from 92 countries, including India, have been cautioned about the use of spyware like Pegasus targeting selected individuals. According to an NDTV report, Apple sent emails to users informing them about the potential dangers of spyware attacks on iPhones. Hackers could gain access to users’ iPhones remotely.

According to the report, on the night of April 11, the company sent threat notification emails. Apple has identified the presence of mercenary spyware, warning users of potential iPhone hacking. Apple indicates that users may be targeted based on their name and profession, advising them to take the warning seriously.

What is Mercenary Spyware?

Mercenary spyware, like Pegasus, targets specific individuals. Attackers are trained and paid substantial sums of money to target devices, with expenses estimated to be in the millions of dollars.

Things to Keep in Mind

Apple urges users to exercise caution and be vigilant about links received on their devices. Users should refrain from opening any links or attachments without verification, as mercenary spyware is commonly used for financial fraud, potentially leading to targeted individuals being defrauded.

Digitnews has also reported receiving a threat notification from Apple, advising users to enable Lockdown Mode on their Apple devices. This option can be found in the iPhone Settings under the Privacy & Security section.
