When Reliance Group’s bid was not accepted
He said, ‘Until we increase water, transport and communication facilities in some areas, industries will not come.’ While addressing the students, the Union Minister told an anecdote from the 1990s. He said that when I was the PWD minister of Maharashtra in the 1990s, I did not accept the Reliance Group’s bid for the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, which was the lowest. Instead, this work was done through a government organization for Rs 1,600 crore.
He said that Reliance Group’s tender of Rs 3600 crore was the lowest. According to the rules, the work should have been given to the lowest bidder. According to Gadkari, his conscience said that this work can be done in 1800 crores and 3600 crores is more.
