Ather, one of the largest electric two-wheeler companies, has crossed the production of one lakh electric scooters in January. The company’s sales have increased significantly in the last year. Sales of electric vehicles are increasing rapidly in the country and electric two-wheelers have a major contribution in this. Sales of electric two-wheelers in the country may increase to 22 million units by 2030.
Ather’s CEO and co-founder, Tarun Mehta tweeted company Informed about completing one lakh units of production. Ather had achieved the milestone of selling 50,000 electric scooters last year. Ather recently announced several upgrades for the Ather 450 electric scooter series at its Community Day event. These included the AtherStack 5.0 software, the company’s biggest software upgrade to date. Atherstack 5.0 brings a new UI, which has many new features. Not just this, Ather has also added four new color options to the 450 lineup. Apart from this, an upgrade program was started for the existing customers.
The company claims that the Atherstack 5.0 will also improve the performance of the electric scooter as it helps extract maximum torque from the scooter for a longer period of time without derating. It is also claimed to get highly accurate range estimation down to the last percentage of the battery. Also it will enable auto cut-off as soon as the charger is plugged in which will give longer battery life. Ather’s rival Ola Electric has launched two new subscription plans Ola Care and Ola Care+ for its customers. Their cost is Rs 1,999 and Rs 2,999. Apart from this, the company is increasing the number of its experience centers to 200 by the end of this month.
With these subscription plans, customers will get benefits like free labor on service, theft assistance helpline and roadside assistance. Ola Care+ includes electric scooter annual checkup, home service, pick up and drop, and 24-hour doctor and ambulance service. Ola Electric has service vans and physical stores in over 600 cities. With this, the company provides most of the services in a day. Ola Electric has sold over 25,000 units in December. Its market share has increased to more than 30 percent.
