Electric scooter startup, Ather Energy has reported sales of 9,187 units in December 2022, registering a year-on-year growth of 389%.
Ather Electric in December introduced extended warranty schemes with discounts, due to which the company has seen a positive growth in the sales of its scooters.
Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said, “We have achieved a phenomenal year-end sales and despite a drop of almost 40% in two-wheeler sales, we have seen a 26 per cent growth in December retail sales over November. increased by.”
He added, “Importantly, metro markets are witnessing strong demand for scooters, which augurs very well for EV adoption across the country. The company is continuously working on scaling up its business. Has set up new outlets and 89 experience centers and is present in 70 cities.
“The year is turning, the industry momentum continues, and with some exciting news coming our way in January, we expect it to be a great month for Ather,” said Fokela. Ather Energy has expanded its retail presence with the opening of 14 Experience Centers in cities including Nellore, Karimnagar, Udupi, Noida, Kottayam and Shimoga.
Ather Energy is celebrating Ather Community Day on 7th January in Bangalore. In which Ather Energy can launch the new Ather Electric. This could be an updated version of the 450X. Which may be a completely new product.
Ather currently has two electric scooters in its lineup, the 450 Plus and the 450X. Both of these cost a bit more. So the new scooter could be priced lower and use a simpler tubular steel frame instead of the better (but costlier) aluminum forged frame like the 450X.
Sometime back, Ather had filed a patent for a new electric scooter that had a maxi-scooter-like silhouette. Keeping with the theme, it also gets a flat seat as opposed to the stepped unit on the 450X. Since then nothing has happened on this front and it remains to be seen what Ather does in the days to come.
