In the latest iOS 16.1 beta, Apple redesigned the new Dynamic Island notch on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to make it more visible against dark backgrounds.
When using a dark wallpaper or activating the appropriate mode when the screen is dimmed or when Dynamic Island is in use, a light gray border appears around this cutout.
On light wallpapers, where the outline of the Smart Island is already clearly visible, the light gray frame will not be displayed. The border will disappear when the iPhone is unlocked or when Dynamic Island is not in use. If the user is playing music or using an app that displays content on Dynamic Island, the border will reappear.
In iOS 16.0.2, there was a very blurred border around Dynamic Island, but in iOS 16.1 Beta 4, it became more noticeable. It’s not yet clear why Apple made this change, as many people are choosing a dark background to hide the bangs on other iPhone models or Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
