Apple Vision Pro 2, Vision Air, and Smart Glasses: Upcoming AR Devices Revealed – The company is preparing six more mixed reality devices to be released within three years, including compact smart glasses.
According to the source, Apple will launch an updated version of the Vision Pro by the end of 2025. The main upgrade will be the inclusion of the M5 processor, built using 3-nm process technology. For comparison, the current Vision Pro features M2 processors, which are based on 5-nm technology. Apart from the more powerful chip, no major changes are expected.
Apple is also developing six additional AR devices, which may be released between 2026 and 2028:
-
Apple Vision Air: A more affordable version of the Vision Pro, featuring a 40% lighter plastic body and an iPhone-grade chip. It will have fewer sensors compared to the Vision Pro. Production is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2027.
-
Vision Pro 2: The second generation of the premium Vision Pro headset will feature a lighter aluminum body, a redesigned form factor, and an upgraded M-series processor. Production is anticipated to begin in the second half of 2028.
-
Apple Glasses: These will be Apple’s first smart glasses, designed to compete with Meta’s Ray-Ban series. Production is expected to start in the second quarter of 2027. Apple has high expectations for this product, with estimates suggesting production volumes between 3 to 5 million units.
These developments suggest Apple is heavily investing in the future of augmented and mixed reality, with plans to cater to both premium and mainstream markets over the next few years.
