Apple reduces production of Vision Pro, demand decreases

The company had forecast that it could sell up to eight lakh units. However, this estimate has come down to 4,00,000 to 4,50,000 units. More than 600 apps and games optimized for Vision Pro

American devices maker Apple has cut the production of the mixed reality headset Vision Pro. Earlier this year, the Vision Pro was launched in the US at a price of $ 3,499. It may be introduced in some other international markets soon.

Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst at TF Securities International, said in a post on Medium that Apple expects fewer units of the Vision Pro to be sold because its demand has decreased. The company had forecast that it could sell up to eight lakh units. However, this estimate has come down to 4,00,000 to 4,50,000 units. Apple has not provided information about the launch of Vision Pro in other markets. Kuo said that its production is being reduced due to the possibility of a decrease in its shipments.

Recently, Apple CEO, Tim Cook said that this device will be made available in China this year. Cook told during the China Development Forum that it will be launched in China this year. He said that Apple plans to maintain investment in research and development in China. However, in the first six weeks of this year, iPhone sales in China fell 24 percent year-on-year. Apple is getting tough competition from companies like Huawei of China. This is a sign of a decrease in demand for Apple.

Earlier a report suggested that an affordable version of Vision Pro could be brought. More than 600 apps and games have been optimized for Vision Pro. These new apps have support for the visionOS operating system. Susan Prescott, Vice President of Developer Relations at Apple, said, “These apps will change our experience of entertainment, music and games. These will give us new ways to learn and explore and increase productivity. Developers are working on spatial computing and it has to be seen what they innovate. Users of Vision Pro will have access to a range of streaming apps, including PGA TOUR Vision, NBA, CBS, Paramount+, NBC, NBC Sports, FOX Sports, and UFC.
