IPhone and other devices are targeted by hackers. The lockdown mode aims to add a new layer of security to the device for human rights advocates, politicians and other VIPs.
Apple has launched this feature almost two years after the Pegasus scandal. The iPhone was being hacked by Israel’s NSO group’s Pegasus spyware. In addition to many businessmen, social activists, politicians and journalists were targeted. Apple was summoned for this. Lockdown mode will be available with iOS 16.
Apple’s lockdown mode will work for Apple’s iPhone iPhones, iPads and Macs. This feature blocks incoming attachments on the iPhone. This new security mode will turn off file transfer to iPhone via wire. Another Israeli firm, Cellebrite, uses a manual connection (wire) to access the iPhone.
According to Apple, this new feature has been introduced to protect against “zero click” hacking techniques. Spyware companies are also developing a variety of software to break security in an emergency. Apple said in a new feature that if a security researcher finds any bugs in it, he will be rewarded with २ 2 million, or about Rs 15 crore. This will be part of Apple’s Bug Bounty program.
