The agreement was reached after a protracted eight-year legal battle, writes Bloomberg. Apple store employees filed a lawsuit back in 2013. Then they accused the company of violating the California law: according to it, Apple had to pay employees for the time they spent on going through security checks.
Apple argued that bag checks were necessary – the company had to make sure employees weren’t trying to steal electronic devices. Apple said employees who disagreed with the policy could simply not bring their bags to work. However, in 2020, the appellate court ruled that the employer still has to pay the workers money.
