Announced anime based on the cult NieR: Automata

Five years ago, Platinum Games and Taro Yoko managed to enter pop culture forever with NieR: Automata, a beautiful, deep and very depressing action game about the war of androids and alien robots on the ruins of humanity. Since 2017, fans have been begging both the studio and the screenwriter for a sequel, but instead, Taro decided to please the fans in a different way – with the help of an anime adaptation.

In honor of the five-year anniversary of the release of Automata, the authors of the game announced a series based on the hit action movie. Production will be handled by Aniplex, known for Blood: The Last Vampire and Rurouni Kenshin. Unfortunately, this is all that is known at the moment – other information is kept in the strictest confidence. The project has already got an official website , which they promise to update.

Recall that NieR Automata went on sale on February 23, 2017. Despite the lack of a number in the title, Automata is not an original action movie at all, but a sequel to the role-playing slasher NieR Gestalt (Replicant in the West), which, in turn, is a spin-off of the Drakengard series.
